BASIC HEALTH AND SAFETY CERTIFICATE COURSE FOR SAFETY REPRESENTATIVES

The Basic Health & Safety Certificate course represents a foundation of health and safety knowledge required by all Company Safety Representatives. All employers have a duty to provide a safe and healthy working environment with safe systems of work.

An essential element of any safe system is the knowledge and attitude of the Safety Representatives. This can only be achieved by effective and efficient training and North East Safety Training Services can provide this training. Our relationship as an Approved Assessment Centre with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health allows us to provide quality training to a high and measured standard.

On completion of this course delegates will have the necessary basic understanding of health and safety issues, thereby enabling them to contribute towards your organisations commitment to health and safety. n particular this course will enable reps to :- Work in a safe and healthy manner and contribute positively to your company's aims and objectives contained in your health and safety policyIdentify key hazards within the workplaceUnderstand the importance of health and safety rules and safe working practicesReport potential health and safety problems to your Safety AdvisorBe responsible for reporting to a Health and Safety Committee

This course includes information on :-

Health & Safety at Work; Health & Safety Law; Accident Prevention; Risk Assessment; First Aid at Work; Personal Protective Equipment; Hazardous Substances; Ergonomics and Workstation Design; Manual Handling and Noise at Work.

At the end of the course candidates will be required to sit a short examination comprising of 30 multiple choice questions. All those gaining the required mark will be awarded the CIEH Basic Health & Safety Certificate.
